Ashley Ferguson Finds Hope at Nexus

This month, we would like to feature Nexus alum Ashley Ferguson. Ashley checked into Nexus on January 16, 2020, after using for several years. She had lost custody of her daughter and seemed very hopeless. The first week was difficult, but with the support of both Nexus staff and her fellow clients, she stayed on campus for two whole months. Ashley says that the classes were great, especially the parenting classes. “It’s a great atmosphere and great people. I couldn’t have been with a greater set of girls.”

In order to regain custody of her daughter, Ashley had to get her own apartment and prove that she could stay sober for 90 days. Lindsay Malhotra, Director of Nexus Generations, played a big role in helping Ashley rebuild her life. “Ms. Lindsay was there every step of the way,” Ashley says. “She was really on top of it, and I couldn’t thank her enough.”

With the help of her family and Nexus’ support system, Ashley got her daughter back on day 91. When Ashley gave birth to her second daughter in December 2020, she was able to take her baby home without intervention. Today, Ashley has a beautiful family, strong support system, and wants to give back to Nexus any way she can. “Nexus has played a huge role in my life. It gave me the opportunity to get sober and live again.”
