Rise Up
Nexus Launches Phase II of Recovery Rising Campaign
Nexus Family Recovery Center is excited to announce the launch of Phase II of the Recovery Rising campaign—an ambitious $23 million investment in the future of women, children, and families on their journey to healing.
This next phase focuses on creating safe, dignified, and community-oriented spaces designed to foster recovery and resilience. Tucked deeper into our campus and surrounded by calming greenspace, Phase II will bring to life two transformative projects:
- Pregnant and Parenting Women with Children (PPWC) Dorm – A one-story, 30-room facility featuring private bathrooms, shared kitchens, and age-appropriate living spaces for women in recovery and their children, all anchored by a central staff station for enhanced safety.
- Child Development Center (CDC) – Doubling in size to 12,000 square feet, the new CDC will serve up to 110 children with expanded trauma-informed care, early education, and on-site therapies in a secure, thoughtfully designed space.

Recovery
Liz’s Journey from Survival to Strength
The road to recovery is rarely a straight line—and for Liz, it was a decades-long journey marked by loss, trauma, and ultimately, transformation.
Liz lost her father to substance use disorder (SUD) at a young age and endured abuse from her stepfather during her formative years. With no healthy way to cope, she began using substances at just 10 years old, setting off a 30-year battle with SUD that would take her through cycles of dependence, instability, and heartache.
On the surface, Liz appeared to be functioning. She attended college and maintained a job leasing apartments. But behind the scenes, her life was unraveling. She struggled to care for her son, who faced serious health challenges, all while feeling overwhelmed by her own. She knew she needed help—but didn’t know how or where to find it.
When Child Protective Services intervened and removed her son from her care, it was a devastating turning point. Over the years that followed, Liz entered and exited various rehab programs, never quite finding the lasting support she needed—until 2021, when she found Nexus Recovery Center.
From the moment she walked through Nexus’s doors, Liz shares that, “Something felt different. For the first time, I was met with dignity, not judgment. The center offered more than treatment—it provided trauma-informed therapy, meaningful process groups, a strong sense of community, and a staff that truly cared.”
Through Nexus, Liz found healing. And with that healing came purpose.
Today, Liz serves as a Recovery Coach at Nexus, helping other women navigate their own paths to recovery. Perhaps even more powerfully, she has rebuilt a loving and stable relationship with her son and her mother—something she once thought was impossible.
Liz’s story is a powerful reminder that recovery is rising.
She often shares that she couldn’t have afforded the treatment she received on her own. But thanks to Nexus, she was given the chance to reclaim her life—and now, she’s helping others do the same.
Substance use disorder can isolate, but recovery connects. With community, compassion, and continued support, lives can and do change. Liz is living proof.
