Hop Into Spring with the CDC Spring Party!
The Nexus Child Development Center is hosting its annual spring party on April 3! Nexus is welcoming in-kind donations and volunteers to make this event one our children and mothers won’t forget!
5th Annual Mothers’ Brunch and Bazaar
The new program format includes all the elements you love, plus a dynamic conversation exploring the barriers our clients face in accessing SUD treatment moderated by Sharon Grigsby (Lab Report Dallas), with Dr. Nancy Onisko (Parkland Hospital ER Medicine and Addiction Specialist), Judge Stephanie Huff (Dallas County 291st Judicial District Court) and Ellen Magnis (Family Gateway CEO) as panelists.
And that’s not all! We’re bringing back our popular raffle with even more chances to win curated baskets from our Bazaar vendors along with other great items from well‑loved retailers.

A World Without Nexus: Amanda’s Story
Amanda’s journey with substance use disorder began at 15. Throughout her teens and 20s, she experienced multiple DUIs, sexual assault, hospitalization, and psychosis. At 23, her parents sent her to a private in-patient facility. However, she returned to old patterns after leaving treatment.
Amanda came to Nexus three times during her recovery journey. Two years ago, Amanda came to Nexus as a client for the final time, where she had a schedule and learned the importance of surrounding herself with healthy company.
Without a place like Nexus, for many clients like Amanda, detox without a treatment facility like Nexus would mean entering recovery without the structure, safety, and long‑term support needed to truly heal.
Hear Amanda’s full story, along with other life-changing stories, and why Nexus is a vital part of the Dallas recovery community by visiting one of our Noontime with Nexus tours.
