This Thanksgiving, Nexus Family Recovery Center hosted a special luncheon for our clients and their families, creating a warm and festive atmosphere filled with gratitude and community.
Guests enjoyed a traditional Thanksgiving meal, provided by the generous efforts of Mike McCoy and Chef For Shelters, in a unique sit-down dining experience. Instead of the usual cafeteria-style service, our clients were treated to restaurant-style service, as volunteers graciously served meals at tables adorned with seasonal tablecloths and beautiful fall floral arrangements.
Adding to the festive atmosphere, the dining room was transformed with welcoming decorations, including colorful streamers and banners. Volunteers from the Xi Delta Sigma Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Incorporated and SMART Recovery Oak Cliff contributed to the sense of connection and thankfulness by leading gratitude activities. Clients participated by coloring custom-made coloring sheets and writing down what they were grateful for on paper leaves, which were then placed on the gratitude tree—a touching reminder of the strength and unity within our community.
The Thanksgiving luncheon was not just a meal but a celebration of resilience, support, and shared hope, made possible by the dedication of our volunteers and community partners. Thank you to everyone who helped make this day special!
