This month at Nexus Recovery Center, we discuss the Toy Drive we held in December for our outpatient clients. We also feature our new security team and thank Chef to the Shelters for bringing holiday cheer to the Nexus campus. Finally, we invite you to next month’s ASC Heart & Sole 5k race benefiting Nexus and the families we serve.
Security
Nexus Introduces Security Team
Nexus has invested in enhanced security to better protect the woman and children who reside on our campus, hiring Security Office Supervisor Sherman Shaw and Security Officer Archie Tardy to oversee the facility. We have also introduced a new key card reader to the Administration Building’s main entrance along La Prada Drive, with a video camera connecting to our front reception desk.
Under our new Security Team, the main entrance will remain locked except for during peak admissions times. All Nexus staff have all been issued key cards, and our reception desk is staffed 24/7 to allow visitors to enter and exit when necessary. While it may seem like a small change, the Nexus Security Team big step to improving the safety and security of our clients and staff.

Chef to the Shelters Serves Holiday Cheer
Chef to the Shelters treated Nexus with several outstanding meals for this holiday season! They provided dinner for both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, as well as New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, serving up smoked sausage, chicken, vegetables, Artesano sausage rolls, and more!
We are very thankful for their Executive Director, Chef Mike McCoy, who has become a great friend of Nexus since attending one of our Noontime with Nexus campus tours this fall. Thank you to Chef Mike and everyone at Chef to the Shelters for bringing holiday joy to our campus!
