In 1996 the founding members of the Women’s Auxiliary joined Wylodean Saxon, Rosemary Briggs and Doris Anton for the first membership tea. That first meeting drew compassionate women together from the community who were determined to raise money for Nexus and to change the lives of women struggling to live sober lives. Since its founding, the Auxiliary has raised money to: purchase a new phone system to allow for better community outreach; expand the adolescent program by funding two additional beds; pave the front parking lot of the east Dallas campus; purchase two new vans to transport the women and children of Nexus; start an emergency fund for client extended stay; and expand the medical staff to better serve clients with dual diagnosis.
The mission of the Women’s Auxiliary of Nexus is “to support and promote the interests of Nexus Recovery Center, Inc. by building a strong and active membership, by stimulating public awareness and by helping in the financial support of Nexus’ services and projects.” Members of the Auxiliary make our community a better place by putting in countless volunteer hours each year planning and implementing special events. They also volunteer directly at Nexus, spend time spreading the word about Nexus and provide volunteer support for the golf tournament. To be a part of this wonderful group, please download the membership form and send it to the membership chair or fax it to Nexus at 214.324.1994.

Fall Membership Tea
Each year the Women’s Auxiliary welcomes new members at the fall membership tea, which features an inspirational testimonial from a Nexus client.
Christmas Open House
Auxiliary members make sure Nexus clients and their children have a merry Christmas each year by bringing gifts to the annual Christmas Open House. Auxiliary members also enjoy shopping at the unique bazaar for gifts and ornaments with partial proceeds benefiting Nexus.
Spring Luncheon
The 2009 Spring Luncheon will be held in May at the Dallas Country Club. Details of the luncheon will be posted at a later date.
Wylodean Saxon Memorial Fund
Nexus is grateful for the many gifts made in memory of Wylodean Saxon. At the request of the family, these gifts were used as the establishment of the Wylodean Saxon Memorial Fund. This endowment fund allows donors to play a special part in perpetuating Wylodean’s vision for Nexus and ensures the Women’s Auxiliary’s good work will continue. To contribute to the Wylodean Saxon Memorial Fund, call 214.321.0156, ext. 2104.
Our mission is to serve as a link to sobriety, independence and dignity for low-income women and their families affected by addiction.
